About the Harlequins

Back in 1967, as part of a Centennial Project, several members of Hamilton Theatre Incorporated (HTI) started a break-out group for those members interested in choral singing.  They decided to form a group which specialized in singing Broadway-based show tunes.  The idea was a hit, auditions were held, and the Harlequins were born!

The rich sound of the Harlequins is immediately evident in the music we perform – music from great Broadway shows such as Les Miserables, Evita, Carousel, and West Side Story. Our library includes the music of noted musical geniuses such as Gershwin, Webber, Rogers and Hammerstein, Lennon and McCartney. We are proud to be one of the few community choirs in the Hamilton area specializing in popular and Broadway music.

Our musical scores are memorized and presented in an exciting cabaret-style show that draws audiences from far and wide.  We are committed to excellence in performance and to this end, work tirelessly to ensure that each show is professional in its presentation.

Adding to every successful performance is the talent of collaborative pianist, Laura Pin, as well as other highly sought-after guest musicians from the region.

As well as our annual Christmas and Spring concerts each season, we perform at several senior-living centres in the area.  We have performed for a number of charitable causes such as the Out of the Cold program, “A Christmas Carol” reading with CBC Radio readers, for St. Matthew’s House, the ALS Society, the CNIB, and the Hamilton Spectator Summer Camp Fund.

We love to entertain at corporate events and private functions. See our Bookings page for information on how we can entertain you at your next event.
